Q. The red light on my parent unit has not turned on when I placed it in the charge cradle, it is new and this is the first time I have used it.
A. The battery may have enough charge in it to allow a few hours of operation, use the unit until the green light flashes to indicate it needs charging then place in the charge cradle.
Q: I have a new SC700 and when I put the Parent unit in the charger the red light doesn’t come on to show me its charging?
A: The best advantage of having a Video Baby Monitor is; it’s portable and wireless. You can take care of all the necessary household tasks while keeping a close eye on your baby.
A: Our Video Baby Monitors are wireless. All you need to do is place the Camera unit (Baby Unit) anywhere in the baby’s room and the Monitor unit (Parent Unit) anyplace that is convenient for you to be able to monitor your baby at all times. Remember – you can take the Monitor unit (Parent Unit) anywhere providing it is still in range.
Note; NEVER place the baby unit inside your baby’s cot, and do not place clothes, towels, blankets or other items over the parent or baby unit.
A: The display is reactivated when a sound is detected or a button is pressed. The VOX (Voice Operated Transmission) sound detection, causes the system to start transmitting automatically from the baby unit to the parent unit as soon as a voice or sound is detected.
To adjust the VOX: Use the +/- button to set the sensitivity to one of 5 levels. If the level is set at its highest, the display on the parent unit MAY remain on.
A: Our Video Baby Monitors use FHSS technology which operates at 2.4GHz. FHSS technology will give you the best range in a residential environment, up to 150 meters under optimum conditions.
Solving Interference Problems:
A way to help solve wireless interference is to find a suitable location for the transmitter and the receiver (Baby Unit and the Parent Unit).
To try and minimize interference with your baby monitor, place it as far away as possible from other devices especially wireless devices. Which include: WIFI/routers, Video Game Consoles, Laptop Computers and wireless/ cordless phones? Microwave ovens can too cause interference with your baby and parent units.
Note: The range can be affected by other materials used in the homes construction, but typically a distance of up to 150 meters can be expected.
A: Our Video Baby Monitors use the latest digital technology which ensures radio communication between the Monitor Unit (Parent Unit) and Camera Unit (Baby Unit) cannot be interfered with by radio scanners or baby monitor’s of the same type.
A: The Camera Unit (Baby Unit) is powered with a mains power adaptor, alkaline batteries (not supplied) can also be installed to power the baby unit in the event of a power failure.
The parent unit, which is required to be portable, is powered by rechargeable batteries, which are re charged by the mains power when placed in the charger cradle. The operating time of the parent unit is up to 4 hours on fully charged batteries. If the VOX is turned OFF the operating time will reduce to up to 2.5hours.
A: There are no special installation requirements, but there are some important things to do to ensure the best performance of the baby unit.
1. Ensure the batteries in the parent unit are charged for at least 16 hours before first use. This ensures the batteries are charged fully and with subsequent charge cycles’ will give the best battery life.
2. Ensure the baby and parent unit power adaptors are kept out of reach of your baby and other small children.

A: FHSS stands for Frequency Hopping-Spread-Spectrum. It is radio technology suited for voice, data and networking applications in residential, corporate and public environments, and with range requirements up to a few hundred meters.
FHSS emits low levels of radio waves when being used. Spread-spectrum transmissions can share a frequency band with many types of conventional transmissions with minimal interference. The spread-spectrum signals add minimal noise to the narrow-frequency communications, and vice versa. As a result, bandwidth can be utilized more efficiently and also means that an FHSS system is a very difficult target for any interference to accrue.

Great product Review by Kat
Value Quality Price Basically everything about this baby monitor is fantastic. The sound, the screen the temperature display are all so handy to have. I will give this product 5 stars for sure.
The only slight downsides to this product are :
~The camera itself beeps when it is turned on - which isn't usually a problem except when you have just put your baby down to sleep and realise that you forgot to turn it on!
~If you accidentally touch the button on the side of the parent monitor the lullaby's start to play - which is fine, if your baby is awake!
These two downsides however do not make me regret purchasing the Oricom Secure700 & I would recommend it to any parent.
Thanks! (Posted on 23/04/13) -
Range Review by Rabid Cat
Price Value Quality I operate a wireless LAN at home, for some hours recently I couldn't get any of my devices to connect, and I know my neighbours also have wireless LAN. They approached me the next day seeking help, as they too could not connect to their LAN. They have a brand new digital video baby monitor that shares the same wireless LAN frequencies (2.4Ghz), so we switched off the device and presto!! - ALL our iphones, PC's etc could connect to our respective wireless LANS once again. My neighbour decided to restrict use of their video monitor to particular nights. So, if anyone is having range issues, it *might be* that a nearby wireless LAN may be restricting transmission range of the video monitor. Just a thought. (Posted on 12/07/12)

EXCELLENT! Review by Emma
Price Value Quality My parents in law bought the oricom baby monitor for me and it has been perfect! It allows me to hear and see my little girl while she is sleeping. It tells you the temperature, which is so handy, as you can tell if it;s too hot or cold. I use my monitor every day and night. I used for sleep school, as I could see that even though my baby was crying she was okay, which helped her to self settle quicker as well.
A great product and a must buy! Don't know what I would have done without it.
Thanks! (Posted on 27/06/12) -
THANK YOU ORICOM! Review by Shirreen
Price Value Quality After a lot of shopping around and comparing features I decided on the Oricom Digital Baby Monitor after my other Video Baby Monitor failed out of its 1 year warranty :( I definately made the right choice ... I love it!!! So clear (both audio and visual). The only thing that could disappoint would be the range, I get approx. 30 meters before it drops out (however it doesn't effect me as I don't use it outside). Would definately recommend this monitor and it is well worth it's money and the 3 year warranty is sensational.
Thank you Oricom, you have made me a very happy and well rested Mummy :) (Posted on 13/10/11) -
THANK YOU ORICOM! Review by Shirreen
Price Value Quality Decided on this Oricom monitor after my other video monitor died out of warranty. I though my other monitor was great but this one is the "bees knees"!!! I love this monitor - so clear and has great features. The only down side is the range, probably only get about 30 metres - but this doesn't really effect me as I rarely take it outside. Overall I find this item to be well worth the $$$ and would definately recommend to others. Thank you Oricom :) (Posted on 13/10/11)

Excellent product Review by Bren
Quality Price Value Being first time parents we were very nervous about bringing our baby home but being able to see and hear our baby when she sleeps at the other end of house is great peace of mind and during the day I play the soft lullaby music to drown out any loud sounds for a much more settled sleep. We have brought this product for family and friends and we recommend it for any new parents. (Posted on 5/10/11)

Very happy with after sales service Review by Big Mama
Price Value Quality Firstly we received our monitor within 24 hours of ordering it. Very happy. Our monitor is a fantastic design and works flawlessly, eliminating all of my anxiety about my baby being downstairs. And to top it off Oricom have honoured their replacement warranty, when a power surge broke one component. I will definitely recommend Oricom! (Posted on 30/08/11)

Great product & service Review by Martina
Price Value Quality On Thu 11.8.2011 our Baby Monitor made by Oricom stopped working ( it was purchased in January 2011 ) and to my distress I was unable to find the receipt of purchase.
I was recommended to contact Oricom directly and so I did.
I would like to say Thank you for the wonderful service you provide on all levels, right from the call centre till the quick and flawless delivery of working product.
We use your Baby monitor every day and the thought of not having it for days was distressing however I could not believe my eyes ( we posted it out only on Fri at lunch time) when on Tue morning courier delivered it directly to our front door.
In future I will not only recommend Oricom products to my friends for their quality but also for the fantastic service you provide.
I have been pleasantly surprised by the top quality of your services as it is very hard to get such a service today anywhere.

Very Happy!! Review by Tina
Value Quality Price After trying a couple of different monitors this one is by far the best!! The others that i tried were no where near as good as this one.. The clarity of the sound and video is great and i haven't had it go out of range yet!! The others had lots of interference and were always going out of range (even though i was only 2 rooms away!).. Ver very happy with this product and would definitely buy and recommend this brand again (Posted on 6/08/11)

Would recommend Review by faye331
Quality Price Value After also struggling with other monitors we have found this great!Feel it has helped our son to settle himself as we are not in and out of his room checking him when we hear a noise but am able to see him very clearly on the screen and know hes fine.Personally i would recommend this to anyone having a baby even though it costs a fair bit we think it is well worth it!The only thing that would help is a better way of fixing it to the cot as we don't really want to be putting screws in the wall or cot. One of the best in the market Review by Rach
Quality Price Value Pros: Great screen, good reception, love the two way communication. The music is always on and helps our son fall sleep.
Cons: If only you could mute it and just watch the screen. The beeping sound that comes on when you swtich it on, sometimes wakes the baby when he is having naps. (Posted on 20/01/11) -
So much potential Review by PJ
Quality Price Value Unlike the review by Mands, I have found the range very disappointing. I bought the unit yesterday and the video quality is great, the two-way function is great but the range is limiting. The baby or camera unit is in a room at the front of the house but the range at which the parent unit receives the image and sound is really inconsistent. It has difficulty picking up the signal in the kitchen and breakfast room at the rear of the house, won't pick it up downstairs and don't even think about standing on the patio at the rear of the house. It will have a signal then it won't and then it emits it's the warning beeps. It's ok for nights and being one or two rooms away but we don't have double brick walls like Mands so I guess she was lucky and got a good system. Great picture etc but the range really gives monitors their function, they are for remote monitoring after all, and this is just disappointing. (Posted on 10/01/11)

Just what we were looking for Review by Mands
Quality Price Value After struggling with different monitors and webcam solutions with our first son, we found the Oricom Secure700 Digital Video Baby Monitor at Baby Bunting. The staff at the store raved about the reception and range. We were certainly impressed also. So much so we bought one for each of our children's rooms.
We have a long spread out house over two levels with some double brick walls and find the reception excellent. The picture is clear both with the lights on and in night vision mode.
The two-way radio is handy when my husband and I need to communicate as well as suggesting our son gets back into bed as it is only 4am!
We have music on all the time in our son's room and we are able to set the sensitivity that the screen only turns on when he makes a significant noise. So we are not jumping at every sound all night long and nor do we have to have the screen on the whole time.
Have a rechargeable battery on the parent unit just makes sense.
Well done! (Posted on 2/10/10) -
Overall great tool for parents Review by AF
Quality Price Value Pros: Oricom is an excellent brand, display is large and clear (colour at day, b&w at night), next to no interference.
Cons: Don't seem to be able to mute the sound and just watch the screen. A little pricey but personally I think it's worth the investment especially with lots of stairs to climb to see what's going on. (Posted on 28/05/10)
