ORICOM PRO SERIES PHONES Review by Rob
Price Value Quality I am a 65 Y.O. disabled war veteran with moderate hearing impairment and with big problems using a telephone.
Most phones I find are impossible for me to hear, even the amplified ones in most cases. Many offer an amplified receive function which certainly amplifies the incoming audio, but also amplifies the ambient noise which nullifies the benefit of the amplified audio. More signal plus more noise equals no benefit at all.
The only phones I have found that I can actually hear all callers on are the Oricom “Pro” series which have been specially designed with hearing impaired people in mind. The “BOOST” button on the Pro series boosts the signal without the noise and for me it goes from unintelligible to fully understandable…..the difference between being able to use the phone or not!
I don’t know how they do it, but it works.
I am no longer isolated from my family and friends.
Previously I have had an Oricom Pro 600-1 but as we needed an answering machine we have just bought a Pro 900-1. Both phones are essentially the same in function with a large “BOOST” button prominently displayed if you need the extra help like I do. If you don’t engage the boost then the phone is suitable for non-hearing impaired users.
The ring tone is very loud and there is a flashing light to catch your attention if there is other noise masking the ring tone The buttons are large which helps if you have arthritic hands like I do.
The answering machine works well and is easy to use and although modern phones can look complicated because of all the things they do, the Pro series can simply be plugged in straight from the box and it will work well for you. This phone has lots of useful features allowing you to customise it to suit your own needs, but as I said earlier, it works great straight out of the box!
To be honest, living in a fire prone rural area would be too scary if I couldn’t use the phone.
Thank you Oricom.
